quote [ By enhancing communication networks, this challenge aims to build resilient, adaptable urban systems for the future, and aligns with broader smart city initiatives, and serves as a model for transitioning technology developed in federal labs into public use, enhancing its reach and impact. ]
Some algorithmic encouragement NODE/SETUP
Had a few thoughts of ways it could be used by Australian SES for emergency in field situations. We get weather events and fire storms. Would sell it as integrate all SES volunteers to an APP that communicates on the network, less cost of communication equipment and then also for large situations like Brisbane if you could push an alert to citizens in emergency areas to ensure pre-loading of APP to interface with network of standard devices once SES had network established. Could push muster points and alerts of danger to the public after the Mainstream network is down. Pitch I drafted to a previous event, got me invited. Couldn't be arsed one-man banding and AI'ing a 5 page white paper for DOD again. If anyone's up for a colab? EDIT: TLDR justr read some of this quarters brief. "YOUR CHALLANGE ..... Some ideas to consider: Operational Resilience: How do we perform in emergency scenarios where traditional systems fail to operate? Energy Efficiency: How can we optimize for greater energy efficiency? Support for Smart Infrastructure: How can we integrate with or improve existing communications technology and infrastructure? Do current network capacities satisfy future requirements? Adaptable Delivery Systems (Optional): How can we support or enhance synergies with underlying communication networks and drones? ......" The top and bottom one I covered in my first draft, the middle 2 got a few ideas.

Some competition I stumbled across in my rambling searches, even comes with DOD prize money.
